Creating a Great Website:  Our Development Process
Our website development methodology provides you with an unprecedented degree of control.
In order for your website to accomplish its intended purpose, your web developer should have a clear understanding of:
(1) Your goals for the website, and
(2) The image you wish to project for your organization.
Our unique methodology ensures that you are an integral part of the web development process, with results that are consistent with your expectations, budget, corporate identity and business goals.
The exact process depends on the size and scope of your project. A larger project will generally include a formal Requirements Definition phase, allowing you to control everything from content and appearance standards to the budget and schedule. For smaller sites the process is less formal, but it will still provide you with control of the project, the budget and the schedule.
I. Requirements Phase
During this part of the process, we:
  • Take the time to understand your organization and your markets, where your company has been and where you would like to take it.
  • Work with you to define specific goals for your website.
  • Define content required to support those goals, as well as ancillary functions such as dynamic content, interactivity, user registration and data capture.
  • Specify the desired look and feel, consistent with your audience and your objectives.
Based on this input, we will initially create the following:
  • A site map, showing the proposed pages and organization.
  • Diagrams showing the site navigation menus.
  • Artist's sketches of the home page and sample interior page(s).
  • For functional and database driven sites, a specification of each processing module and a database schema.
As these are prepared, you will be asked to provide feedback. This ensures that the site is consistent with your vision and requirements, and minimizes rework.
II. Development process
As work is completed, you will be asked to approve it each step of the way. Your site may be published to a non-public area of the Internet while under development, so that you may view its progress. For a larger site, various control documents, check lists, specifications, developer notes and other information may be published there as well.
III. Acceptance and Installation
Before final publication of your site, all elements will be acceptance tested by us. You will be asked to carefully test and review the entire site as well, and sign off on it. In addition, we will provide necessary training and documentation on any dynamic or functional aspects of your website prior to publication.
Only then will we publish it for public access, and register it with the popular search engines.
